Gray tree frogs
who once announced the summer rains,
now lie frozen in dark December woods,
all but dead.

Death walks with us into winter.
Embrace the frozen darkness.
Burrow into the season of rest.
Our darkest day has passed.
Radiant resurrection awaits.

Tree frogs thaw to sing again!
